My two favorite outfits from this week’s Fashion Experiment #1. :-)

Fashion Experiment #1: Wearing a dress everyday

Experiment Brief: Wear a dress or a skirt to work every day.

On the surface of it this seems like a straight-forward (and easy) experiment in fashion. For a bit of background information I normally don’t wear dresses or skirts often. It’s not really that I’m a slob - I can dress nicely, I just usually feel more comfortable doing it in jeans.I also recently turned forty, though I don’t really look my age, but it has prompted me to think about fashion and image and other such things.

So, then the purpose of the experiment was to put me a little bit outside of my own comfort-zone. Okay, and I wanted to try out dressing like a grown up a bit.

Fashion Experiment #1

What I learned: I think the most surprising thing I found out was that I wasn’t as uncomfortable as I thought it would be, even though we had quite the cold snap. Wednesday was my threshold and I was REALLY missing my jeans, and by Friday I was grumbling with frustration trying to figure out what to wear. Monday and Friday ended up being my favorite looks, although I did keep to my own style all week. And actually I do think I learned a bit more about my own aesthetics and sense of fashion. I think next time I go shopping I’ll know a bit more about what I like and what I should look for.

I do think I’ll wear more dresses and skirts in the future, though

:-) As an added bonus I got my friend Megan (who kindly took the pics for me) to pose for a pic every day as well. While she wasn’t bound by the parameters of the experiment she does have a fabulous sense of style. :-)

Grr… I left my photo late today and wasn’t in the mood to search after something to shoot. (It’s been a long week.) But I do have this brooch that I received for xmas still on my desk. I think it’s still out on my desk because I really like it. I like the colors and I like the tactile feeling of the metal bits. So I decided to see how close I could get the details. The shot isn’t anything too spectacular, I admit - but I did manage to learn a bit more about the new camera.
And I think I’ve named it Nick.

Keys…

I just realized that all of my necklaces this year are keys of some sort. I wonder what I unlock….

(I’m up to 4 necklaces that I wear every day now)
